Ali Jafri

Regional Representative in North Africa (2012 - 2018)

Location: Casablanca, Morocco.

Assistant Professor of Physiology and Nutrition at Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences - Casablanca. I have a PhD in Human Nutrition, with a focus on nutritional epidemiology and nutrition education.

I had the opportunity to be the Regional Representative for the ANS in North Africa for three consecutive terms since 2012 and an Editorial Board member of African Nutrition Matters since its inception in 2013. Being an active member within the ANS comes from the conviction that there is enough will power and capacities in Africa to help improve the nutrition landscape in the continent, we only need to come together as a people to make this vision a reality. To this end, I believe that each and everyone has a responsibility to invest in capacity building and self improvement.

I had the opportunity to participate to the African Nutrition Leadership Programme in 2011, and to the Programme Africain de Leadership en Nutrition in 2010, where I met wonderful and talented people from all around Africa who strengthened my resolve and helped me see beyond the day-to-day concerns of academia and realize that nutrition is more than a science, it is a cause worth investing in.
