Linley Chiwona-Karltun, born 1963, is an Associate Professor at SLU’s city and country institution. She has worked in various capacities during her career to improve the life and work of African female bands. In her research, among other things at SLU, she has mainly focused on cassava, a crop that in many parts of Africa is the most important staple crop, and which is mainly grown by female farmers. Today, there is a greater interest in cassava as key crop when it comes to combating poverty, in order to achieve food security in Africa and to create opportunities for women as small farmers and entrepreneurs.
